Ok. So you know when my hair is in a protective style, my mind just gets all these crazy thoughts and whatnot. I constantly change hair goals and then when I take my braids out, I end up going back to the original plan. Sooooooo..... I've decided to NOT STRAIGHTEN MY HAIR FOR MY BDAY.
Now, The original plan was to straighten my hair for my bday because like I said, I only want to straighten my hair twice a year. 1. on my bday and 2. for special occasions like a wedding or for a holiday (Thnxgiving/Xmas/NYE), I figured, I haven't straighten my hair since May (5/12) for graduation picture and that was a waste because I HATED IT! I've been very comfy without heat and I want to keep it that way. I'm just scared of getting HEAT DAMAGE. It was a pain in the ass to deal with the Scab Hair for a few months so I don't want to back slide and end up with heat damage.
But anyway. I figured, instead of straightening my hair for that ONE DAY, why not PUT I IN A BUN! You guys know I've been obsessing over high buns for a while and I figured instead of going through all that straightening and have it sweat out in one day, why not do a sleek bun! NOW, my only problem is that I hope my my bday I can put my hair in a bun because if I can't I'll just redo my braids.
I'm just so scared of heat now. Not seriously scared but every time I think of straighten my hair, even when I did back in May, I die a little inside. I'm not becoming a heat hater but I want to stay away from it as much as possible. Blow Drying is whatever because I have to blow dry before I braid my hair. it's definitely a MUST. And I know I have to blow out my hair in order to get it trimmed. It's just the straight look I want to keep away from. I want to see how long I can go.
Another adjustment is to Protective Style my hair in the Winter. Now that's not much of a change because I live in braids but I wanted PS for a whole 6 months. Now, 6 months is a good amount of time to have your hair tucked away. With the proper care of course. I want to do this because I want to grow my hair out faster. Since I live in NYC, the Winter can be HARSH. I don't want to deal with my hair when it's freezing cold out so why not braid it up. I figured, I can braid my hair up in October when it normally gets a little chilly gearing up for that Winter season and then repair them along the way until April when the weather starts to get a little warm. Until my hair gets long enough for it to hang under my winter hat, I'm going to protective style it up.
I just had to add those to my little goal list. Nothing major. This is what happens when you're on a journey.
