The time has finally come. I'm FINALLY a year natural. I just can't believe I went 2 year without having a perm (Jun. 1, 2011) and now I'm a year fully natural. Never would I ever though that I would go through something like this but I'm so glad I did!

March 24,2012. Right after I big chopped! |

Of course I had to wet it to see it completely natural. TWA due to shrinkage. |
Now I've learned quite a few things about my hair but I wouldn't say I know it [ my hair] like the back of my hand just yet. I'm still learning. I've set some hair length goals for myself that I still haven't reached yet and you know what.... I'm not even mad! I've realized that the 1st year seemed like transitioning. It felt like I was transitioning all over again. Wishing my hair was at a certain length and watching every other natural have hair that's longer than mine was so annoying. Going on Instagram is the worst! I see some chicks that have been transitioning the same amount of time as me and their hair is longer like collarbone length, and I'm here like "WTF is going on with my hair?!?!?!... My hair hasn't reached my goal of collarbone yet!!!!" Chicks that BC after me have longer hair than me. I just don't understand. I mean, My hair is growing but NOT FAST ENOUGH. Then I had to tell myself that it's going to happen. Focus on the health of my hair instead of the length because when it get longer it's going to be trouble. My hair is already thick, but adding length is just going to kill me. So I stopped obsessing over length (sorta kinda) and mainly focusing on a strong and healthy regimen Which I did!

My 1st attempt at a twist out. Oh lord... |

Wishing and wanting to wear my hooded band, but I had no hair!!! |

1st wash'n' go. This is the reason why I don't wear them |

This looks like a coil out or something. |

I was more comfortable wearing twistouts at this point. Not so bad. |

Curly Fro! |

I even tried my 1st braidout. It's "ok" |

I was happy that my hair could go back into french braids. When I did the big chop, it was too short for the braids to stay nice and neat. |

Box braids were my beast friend. Kinda still is. Just to buy me some time for some growth. |

Fast forward to this year and I'm in love with my hair! |

Still a work in progress |
Now that I'm a year natural, I'm going to continue on my healthy hair journey. I'm going to continue to build a strong regimen. That's the most important thing. Make sure I have that down along with some creative protective styles. That should help my hair to flourish. I'm also looking forward to the Summer so I can let my hair run wild and free. I hope my fro grows a little bit bigger by July. I'm just really happy that I've made this decision to go natural. I should have went natural years ago!
