Curly Girl Tag!

I've always see these curly tag videos on YouTube and I decided to do one for my blog. Instead of doing a video, I'm going to do it in a post!

Here are the questions: 

1. What inspired you to go natural or wear your hair curly? 

• Well, I wasn't happy with the state of my hair. It was really lifeless and I wanted to give up on the perms because they weren't doing anything for my hair.  I was contemplating on going natural because the year prior (2010) I wanted to but that was a fail. It wasn't until last summer (June '11)  I saw one of my friend's hair. When she had a relaxer, here hair was so brittle and thin. When I saw her hair, it got so long and thick. I asked her "what was the secret?" and she said she stopped perming her hair. I looked at it like if she can do it I know I can do and it was something I really wanted to do. so I said "OK.... Let's get this thing on the roll!" and now I'm proud to say that I'm 1 year post relaxer!

2. Who are your favorite curly hair idols?

• I've always... always always ALWAYS been a huge fan of Kelis. I love her from her head to her toes! lmaoooo. j/k.  But yea, I've always loved Kelis" big curly fro. I would have her pix of her when her hair was pink, blonde and green on my wall as a teen and I would always say "I wish I had hair like that!!" and of course Ms Tracee Ellis Ross.

3. Which You Tube curly would you trade curls with for a day?  

• I love Lalia- Jean of Fusion of Culture hair! She's from the UK and I love her Wash 'n' Go's. I love that it looks BIG and a little frizzy but has a touch of curls on the ends. So cute!

4. If you could have only one product for a year, which product would you chose? 

• It would definitely be Kinky Curly's Knot Today. It's a conditioner, detangler and leave in all in one. You can't go wrong with a 3 in 1 product!

5. If you could change one thing about your curls what would it be?

• I wouldn't change then I just wish I had the same curl pattern all around. Don't we all. I have "3c/4a" or in CG method "Corkscrew, Zigzag, Fractual" all in the middle of my hair. Some parts in the back and on top of my ear hair feels a little course with little curl pattern. I am 2 months natural so those parts will grow out into something else by the new year.

6. What’s the craziest thing you’ve tried on your “natural hair journey”?

• I don't think I did anything crazy during my journey. I had braids in my hair the whole time so I didn't have my hair out to do anything crazy.

7. What’s your secret ingredient that your curls LOVE the most? 

• I've just started to notice that my curls LOVE a butter moisturizer packed with essential oils. It LOVES Jane Carter's Nourish & Shine. It melts right into my hair and my curls locks it right in! I should try shea butter and see if it works too!

8. If you could merge two brands of products to make your perfect product, which two would it be?  

• Since I'm only 2 months natural, I still exploring more products.

9. What is your go-to hair style when you’re in a rush? 

• I don't have one yet. Since my hair is short, I make sure I do my hair the night before so it can look neat in the morning. 

10. If your curly hair had a name, what would it be and why?

• Mini! because my hair is JUST like me. she's picky just like I can be sometime.  and not to mention  it's so cute, short  (but I'm tall) and curly : )
