You know you're Natural when....

People start touch your damn hair.

[inhale....exhale....] I have to take a deep  breath because I've dealt with this problem when I was relaxed. My godmother would always see my freshly permed hair and say  "Wow, is this your hair?" and when I say "YES" she would confirm my answer by running her fingers through my hair. Or when I'm taking out my braids at the salon. I would help my mom and this other hair dresser would come and "help" take out by braids. I hate when people want to help take my braids out because I normally have a lot of shit packed on my hair. Castor- Coco oil, My oil mix (Sweet Almond, Coconut, Rosemary) and my braid spray.  That's a lot of oil which becomes sticking which holds dust and dirt and I don't understand why someone want to have their hand in someone else's dirty hair!!!! but I digress...

It never used to bother me back then. Especially my godmother raking her fingers feeling for tracks. But NOW. OMFG! I can't. Now, the way I sound, you would think 10,000 people done came and fondled my hair. Not the case. Let me tell you the story...

STRIKE 1

So my uncle's female friend is in town and the last time she saw me, 2 months ago,  I had braids. Now she come to NYC and I STILL have braids. Fresh ones of course. So my  braids was getting on my nerves and I really missed my hair. So I decided to take my braids just to give my hair a break. She sees me taking out my braids and decides to come into my room and wants to help. Now the beauty of big braids is that they're really easy to take out. It should only take an hour and a half to 2 hours tops. Therefore, I DON'T NEED HELP. This chick spots me taking them out and figures she's going to help me. I told her NO. I don't need help. Then she starts talking a little and I'm like I DON'T NEED HELP..... I told her about 6 times that I don't need help before she back the hell up.

Strike 2

Fast forward 4 days later.... I realized I don't want to have my hair out anymore. I miss my braids. Story of a natural. So I decided I'm going to braids my own hair but before I do, I have to detangle and I have to reblow-dry since I had French Braids in. So I'm doing that in the bathroom and she rolls up at the door [ Rolls eyes] She's asking me a million on one questions on what I'm doing like I spritz some water on my hair to make the detangling process easier (DO NOT DETANGLE ON DRY HAIR.... TAKE MY WORD FOR IT) she asks why am I using water. Then she's see how thick my hair is when it's wet and when it's blown out. She's gonna say "Wow. I couldn't deal with all that THICK 'n' HARD hair. Oh wait it gets better. She comes behind me and fondles the left side that was blown out. I just took a deep breath and continued blow drying....

Now, people don't touch my hair often... at least for now... But when they do, it's always for 2 reasons. Obviously for TRACKS and TEXTURE. They way they fondle my hair is so violating. It's like when you're quickly trying to give yourself a scalp message with a slight pull to feel the texture. I can't stand it.

So for those who like to touch people's hair. PLEASE DON'T DO IT. It's not cute!
