So as usual, I got some long box braids. I got them done on November 3rd and I told myself this is perfect. I have a whole hair plan for the next few months:
Nov '12-Jan '13: Braids
Break for a week then braid it back
Jan '13-Feb '13: Braids
Take them out a week before my bday, then braid it back
Mar '13-May '13: Braids
Now, I was browsing Youtube and I came across this chick BlakisBeautyful (Jenell). I thought I was following her but apparently I wasn't. So I noticed that she had Senegalese Twist so I clicked the vid to see what she had to say.
She talked about how she normally doesn't do commitment protective style (box braids, kinky twist, senegalese twist, etc.) because she ends up missing her hair. I totally agree with her.
She goes on to say in the 2nd video, that she's keeping them in until after the New Years because that will be 2 months. I set the same goal too. So I figured since we both have the same goal for our protective style, why not do a little imaginary challenge. I figured, we both have the same problem with commitment styles, but we both want to overcome it. So, I want to see if we're both going to make our goal or if one, or both, of us is going to break it.
Now, I'm not trying to toot my own horn but I have a feeling that I'm going to make it. I'm not going to make frequent updates like she's doing because I do that all the time and that makes me miss my hair more. So I'll just skip that part.
This should be interesting so stay tune....
Check out Jenell's channel BlakIzBeautyful on YouTube!
I love Jenell's channel her channel is very informative and she has loads of reviews ans tips. I will be one year natural tomorrow and would also like some type of braids or even sew in, but just haven't decided on what yet. Good Luck with your challenge.
ReplyDeleteOh Congrats on being a year!!!! On Saturday, I'll be 8 months natural. Only 4 more months for me! I can't wait!!! I live in braids. They may annoy me but I love them to death. They got me through my transition and now that I'm natural, they're getting me through my hair journey.
